2018 ICI Holiday Party

In celebration of the holidays, the events committee invites all members, families, and friends of the Italian Cultural Institute to gather on Sunday, December 2 at 6:30pm for a joyous celebration of the season at Volare Italian Ristorante, located at 2300 Frankfort Avenue. We’ve had a fantastic year with a lot of fun events. We celebrated Italian film, food, soccer, literature, and—most importantly—two Italian chefs, Vincenzo and Agostino Gabriele. Our two scholarship winners, Sydnie Alexander and Jessica Marcano, will be presenting on their experiences at cooking school in Florence thanks to the scholarship awarded in honor of the Gabriele brothers.

Guests will be treated to a four-course meal with delicious appetizers, a salad, entree, and dessert. Tickets are $74 per person and can be purchased through the ICI website. Ticket price also includes the cost of all drinks (coffee, tea, wine, soda), as well as gratuity and sales tax.

Cicchetti (family-style starter to share)

  • Gnocco Fritto- fried flatbread from Emilia-RomagnA served with prosciutto, mortadella, 24 month Reggiano Parmesan, Stracchino

  • Salsiccia- Italian rope sausage and peppers with oregano butter sauce

  • Gambero- pancetta wrapped shrimp with tomato marmalade


  • Carpaccio- Shaved raw Certified Angus Beef, burrata, caramelized shallot, sea salt, extra virgin olive oil


  • Bianca Bolognese- house made mafalde pasta ribbons with a certified angus beef, pine nut, parmesan and white wine sauce

Corso di Pesce

  • Pesce Fritto- Venetian style fried seafood and mushrooms with anchovy, citrus and aged balsamic

Il Secondo

  • Porchetta- slow roasted stonecross farms pork in a rosemary garlic veal glace with Moore Farm fall harvest vegetables

Dolce (trio)

  • Italian Fig Cookies- traditional Italian cookie with fig, walnut, and citrus filling

  • Crostata di Pignoli- honey and pine nut tart in a sable crust

  • Torta di Riso- arborio rice torte with dried cranberries, gold raisins, and slivered almonds
