Gomorrah Film & Discussion
Matteo Garrone’s movie is a dramatized documentary of Robert Saviano’s novel, published in 2006. Saviano has lived under police protection since that year. The Gomorrah is a deadly organization which drives most of Italy’s licit and illicit crime, and more and more, international crime. Their list of highly profitable activities is astounding: drugs, high fashion, textiles, weapons, construction, shipping and waste management. We watch as young and not so young eyes watch what the Gomorrah does routinely. Gradually, the watchers become catastrophically involved.
